'an iconic and ground-breaking British dance-theatre company, famous for telling stories with a unique theatrical twist' (www.new-adventures.net/about-us), Matthew Bourne's New Adventures have brought their dynamic and emotional narratives to life on the world's stages for over thirty years. With a legacy of community engagement and artist development that has inspired generations of dancers, the company was the natural choice for the re-introduction of CUDS' commitment to providing further opportunities for dancers in Cambridge.
Michaela Meazza and Jack Jones, both of whom have a rich performance history with New Adventures, ran a three hour intermediate level workshop exploring the world of Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, which has recently been re-invigorated ahead of a national (and now international) tour. The perfect break from exam term and revision, Michaela and Jack led participants through a contemporary dance warm-up, taught repertoire from the iconic show, and encouraged dancers to engage in creative tasks before running a Q & A on life as a professional dance-theatre artist.
With overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, we would like to thank Michaela, Jack, and the entire New Adventures team for such an inspirational and exciting workshop. Keep your eyes on our Events and Facebook pages for more workshops, talks and events from CUDS over the next year!
